Vision for the future

The Strategic Planning Committee of Jewish Family Services of WNC (“JFS”) has updated its strategic plan grounded in the agency’s historical success and identified client needs. This plan is aligned with our mission statement: Jewish Family Services of WNC (JFS) is an inclusive, welcoming space that provides a broad range of clinical and social support services to adults of all faiths – with special emphasis on the needs of older adults and other under-served community members.

In 2020, the Committee conducted a needs survey in the community and identified which services various agencies in Asheville provide to adults. Based on this information, a market analysis, and an assessment of JFS’s capabilities, the Committee developed a strategic plan for FY24, FY25, and FY26. The following is a summary of the plan, which is described in more detail in subsequent sections:

  • Focus on expanding needed services to older adults while continuing to serve the current scope of services to other clients.
  • Grow in-person clinical counseling in Henderson County.
  • Grow group clinical therapy in Buncombe and Henderson Counties.
  • When we receive funding, develop and initiate a Senior Care Management service.
  • Maintain competitive staff compensation.
  • Significantly increase donations through expanded outreach
